Days without incident?

I was dealing last night at Sonny’s when this hand happened. It was a $1/$2 NL cash game with around 6 players. There was a raise to $7 pre flop and the flop was 9h7h3d Player who raised bet $15 and player 2 called the $15 I turned over the turn card of a 5d and player 3 says “I still have cards”. I apologized and say I didn’t see your hand and explain that I have to reshuffle that card and do a misdeal procedure.

13. If a card is exposed due to dealer error, a player does not have an option to take or reject the card. The situation will be governed by the rules for the particular game being played.

15. If the dealer prematurely deals any cards before the betting is complete, those cards will not play, even if a player who has not acted decides to fold.

8. A dealing error for the fourth boardcard is rectified in a manner to least influence the identity of the boardcards that would have been used without the error. The dealer burns and deals what would have been the fifth card in the fourth card’s place. After this round of betting, the dealer reshuffles the deck, including the card that was taken out of play, but not including the burncards or discards. The dealer then cuts the deck and deals the final card without burning a card.

Hulk Smash
He gets angry and calls the 15 anyways. I put the 5d off to the side burn and turn (the natural river becomes the turn) the Kc becomes the new turn. Player 1 bets player 2 calls and player 3 throws his cards at me exposing 9s5c. He starts getting angry saying “that is unacceptable dealers shouldn’t make mistakes and I will never tip you again”. Player 2 says I saw your hand and I still would have beaten you but player 3 isn’t listening and is still angry. the new river is the 10c it goes check check and player 1 shows jacks and player 2 shows K9 for two pair.

If there was no misdeal the board would have been 9h7h3d5dKs and player 2 still would have had 2 pair Kings and 9s beating player 3s 2pair and player 1s Jacks.

I haven’t misdealt I don’t know how long but it does happen and thats why there is a procedure in place. I apologized but if player 3 thinks a dealer never messes up then I am sorry about that.

TKE UFC and Poker

My Fraternity Alumni Association hosted a party on Saturday that included the UFC fight and a poker tourney. The fight was in London so the time over here was an odd 2pm. There was a bout 15-20 people there and after the fight we had a 6pm poker tourney scheduled.

The fights ended at about 5pm and I asked around to who was playing. only about 8 said they were playing. We had planned around 20-30 but i had 16 confirmed the day before. I also had dealers lined up but they canceled along with half the players. We ended up lowering the buy in from $60 to $40 to get participation up.We were able to get a hold of a few more players and started at about 6pm with 10 players.

I dealt and played to start but as soon as we lost a player i was able to just play. Out of the 10 players some had experience playing but it was more of a laid back home game atmosphere. I had played with 3-4 of the players before and felt I could do well if I didn’t get any bad beats. I had played a little with Prof back in college mostly $.25/$.50 cash games at parties but not a lot of tourneys. He has an aggressive style and I knew he would do well. Phillip deals a lot but doesn’t play so I know he has some knowledge of the game but little playing experience. I taught Jennifer to play so I have a pretty good read on her (she doesn’t think i do). The structure was pretty slow to start and designed around a 20 person tourney so with 10 it gave everyone a lot of play.

I took a hit early from my girlfriend when we were 7 handed at the 50/100 level. It was folded to her in the SB she called I raised from the BB to 300 with JsJh she called. flop was Td8d3d she bet out 300 and i called. turn was a 6s she bet 300 and I called. River was a 6c she bet 1000 and I put her on flopped top pair or maybe 2 pr. I thought my Jacks and 6s was the best hand so I called and she tables pocket 8s for a boat. WOW well played. She later knocks out my roommate Phillip with a board of 7797A Phillip had 7s full of 9s and she revealed 79 for quads. what made this hand great is she bet out when she flopped the boat check called the turn and bet enough to put him all in on the river and he called. Well played again. She was now the chip leader and after knocking out JD with her QQ we were down to 3 players Jennifer chip leader, Prof close 2nd and Myself with only about 1/10th the chips in play.

3 handed lasted a long time I pushed a lot and won some hands uncontested I did get called 1 time by prof when I held Jc9c he had KcTc I got lucky to hit my 9 and J and him not hitting a strait. As the blinds went up i found myself 2nd in chips I was in the BB when prof moves all in for 3,500 i call and show KK vs A6 my kings hold up and I am heads up with my girlfriend.

She suggests a chop but I say no lets play it out. I don’t know if it was the jagar shot i took or the fact she beat me last time we played heads up but i felt like playing it out. A few hands in heads up I moved all in with 55 from the button she called with Q5s and my 5s held up to give me the win.

We played a 2nd tourney for $20 + $10 with 12 players I went out in 5th and decided to call it a night.

It was a fun night, I played well and I am very proud of how my girlfriend played.
