I use a lot of poker abbreviations in my blog, so here is a guide to help some of you.
Poker Abbreviations for Poker Games:
- HE – Hold’em
- LHE – Limit Hold’em
- NLHE – No Limit Hold’em
- O8 – Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better
- PLO – Pot Limit Omaha High
- PLO8 – Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo 8-or-better
- Stud – Seven card Stud/ Stud Hi
- Razz – Stud lo
- Stud 8 – Stud Hi/Lo 8-or-better
- H.O.R.S.E. – Acronym for 5 Mixed Games ( LHE, O8, Razz, Stud, Stud 8 )
Poker Abbreviations for Betting and Position:
- OTB – On the button
- PL – Pot Limit
- NL – No Limit
- SB, BB – small blind, big blind
- PF – preflop
- PFR – preflop raiser
- CO – cutoff, player to the right of the button
- Hijack – the player to the right of the CO
- OOP/IP – out of position/In Position
- EP, MP, LP – early position, middle position, late position
- UTG – under the gun, the player first to act pf.
- UTG +1 – the player to the left of UTG. UTG +2 would be the player two to the left of UTG, etc…
Poker Abbreviations for Poker Tournaments
- AO – Add On
- RB – Rebuy
- MTT – Multi-table tournament
- STT/SNG – Sit and Go
- ITM – Finish In The money/ Cash in a tourney
- Bubble – Finishing just out of the money
Other Common Poker Abbreviations:
- B&M – Brick and Mortar
- EV – Expected value
